Description
Prostate Formula contains vital herbs and nutrients that support proper prostate and urinary function, while modulating optimal prostaglandin and prolactin metabolism in the prostate. This formula is specific for the optimal health and function of the prostate. Two forms of Saw palmetto, a standardized 45% fatty acids and .15% phytosterols from Euromed (640mg) and a traditional non-standardized berry form that contains all the active constituents (375mg) are included. African Pygeum extract is also from Euromed, the leading European manufacturer of botanical medicines, a 200:1 extract with 25% sterols. We also included zinc, nettle root, lycopene, Swedish flower pollen, pumpkin seed extract, pipsissawa and catechins from green tea extract. All our botanicals meet the highest standards in the industry being tested both qualitatively with thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). These high reference standards result in consistently better patient outcomes from higher quality products. Usual dose is 1 capsule, 3 times daily, or as directed by your physician. 90 capsules.
TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
ProstateTM formula contains vital herbs and nutrients that support proper prostate and urinary function, while modulating optimal prostaglandin and prolactin metaboÂlism in the prostate. We include two forms of Saw palmetto. The first is standardized to contain 45% total fatty acids and 0.15% phytosterols (640mg), from Euromed®, whose parent company is the world famous Madaus GmbH of Germany, a leading European manufacturer of the highest quality botanical medicines available. The second is a traditional non-standardized, organic berry extract that contains all the active constituents (375mg). African pygeum is also from Euromed®, a 200:1 standardized extract containing 25% total sterols. We also include zinc, Stinging nettle root, lycopene, Swedish flower pollen, pumpkin seed extract, pipsissewa and catechins from Green tea extract. All our botanicals meet the highest standards in the industry being tested both qualitatively with thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). ProstateTM is specifically formulated to improve prostate function and health.

Other Ingredients: Vegetarian capsules (cellulose and water), silica INGREDIENTS: Saw Palmetto Saw palmetto has been utilized for decades to support healthy prostate and urinary function. The ripe fruit of the Saw palmetto contains volatile oils and fatty oils, which are active in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Many Saw palmetto products are standardized based on the fatty acid content. The most effective Saw palmetto products seem to be whole berries or berry extracts prepared with lipophilic nonpolar solvents. Saw palmetto shrinks the inner prostatic epithelium (1). In a recently published JAMA meta-analysis involving 18 randomized controlled trials and almost 3,000 men, results suggest that Saw palmetto provides important urologic support by promoting healthy urinary function (2). Its primary mode of action involves maintaining healthy testosterone metabolism. African Pygeum African pygeum bark extracts have antiproliferative effects on prostatic fibroblasts and epithelial cells. Pygeum appears to inhibit growth factors such as basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which inhibit prostate growth and cellular hyperplasia (3). Preclinical research suggests that pygeum improves bladder contractility. It seems to affect adrenal androgens and to restore the secretory activity of prostate epithelium. It also decreases production of leukotri-enes and other 5-lipoxygenase metabolites, which suggests anti-inflammatory activity (4). Swedish Flower Pollen (Cernitin®) Swedish flower pollen has positive prostate cell metabolism qualities and influences healthier and stronger urine flow. In a double-blind clinical study, Cernitin® demonstrated support for urination variables and prostate health (5). Swedish Flower Pollen (Cernitin®) continued Cernitin® provides a healthy spectrum of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, flavonoids, nucleic acids, and enzymes. Lycopene Lycopene is a carotenoid, but contains no Vitamin A activity. It is the pigment that gives some fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, their color. Lycopene seems to have some direct effects within the prostate, specifically up-regulating tumor suppressor genes (6). Clinical studies have linked lycopenes presence with a lower risk of prostate cancer. Lycopene tends to be concentrated more in healthier prostate glands and its adequate presence reduces the risk of prostate cancer. Pumpkin Seed Extract Pumpkin seed extract is rich in carotenoids, including lutein, carotene, and beta-carotene. The enzyme acyl-coenzyme A oxidase (ACOX) is present in the pumpkin seed. The ACOX enzyme catalyzes fatty acid oxidation, specifically the oxidation of fatty acid CoA esters with 4 to 10 carbon atoms (7). Research suggests pumpkin seed extract improves bladder and urethral function, which appears to alleviate BPH symptoms (8). Pipsissewa Pipsissewa includes the above ground parts used as the applicable parts. The component chimaphilin has a mild sensitizing effect and contains the glycoside hydroquinone as the active constituent in pipsissewa. Chimaphilin appears to have urinary antiseptic, bacteriostatic, and astringent activity (9). Pipsissewa is used in atonic, chronic and infectious conditions such as prostatitis and benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Pipsissewa promotes bladder integrity and strengthens urine flow. Stinging Nettle Root Stinging nettle root contains polysaccharides that possess immunomodulating and mild anti-inflammatory effects (10). The root seems to have an antiproliferative effect on prostatic epithelial and stromal cells (11); and also may lessen the effects of androgenic hormones by competitively blocking access to human sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) (12). In numerous clinical studies in Germany, Stinging nettle root was shown to maintain proper SHGB activity. Green Tea Green tea is from the leaf bud, leaf and stem. Green tea is different from black and oolong teas because it is not fermented. Polyphenols such as flavanols, flavandiols, flavonoids, and phenolic acids are abundant in Green tea. Catechins in Green tea might appear to have anti-inflammatory activity. Catechins derived from Green tea are a laboratory standard for COX-1 inhibition (13). Catechins from Green tea inhibit the production of leukotriene-B4 and the activity of 5-lipoxygenase (14). Zinc Zinc concentration in the prostate is the highest amount of any organ in the male body. Zinc plays a critical role in the metabolism of androgens, which play a vital role in prostate health. A zinc deficiency is characterized by low sperm counts and delayed onset of puberty among other known deficiencies (15). Zinc inhibits the binding of androgens in the prostate and also inhibits 5-alpha-reductase. Zinc inhibits prolactin secretion and reduces the binding of prolactin in the prostate. Magnesium Magnesium is involved with more than 300 enzyme systems. Magnesium is involved in vascular contraction, neuromuscular function, and cell membrane stability and fluidity. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCI) Vitamin B6 is required for amino acid metabolism. It is also involved in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Pyridoxine (B6) is significant in hormone synthesis, nerve impulse transmission, and hemoglobin formation.
