GABA-750 (60 caps) by Metabolic Maintenance
$26.00
Popularly known as the body’s natural tranquilizer, gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter. It can reduce pain levels and hypersensitivities in the peripheral nervous system. Research shows GABA can cross the blood-brain barrier and helps support normal mood.* Poor diet, oxidative stress and other factors can deplete normal levels of GABA and may result in anxiety, irritability, and insomnia.*
- Inhibits the effects of stress producing neurotransmitters*
- Aids in proper nerve signaling*
- Promotes a relaxed mood and restful sleep*

Description
What is GABA? Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, commonly known as the body’s natural tranquilizer. Many factors can influence GABA production in the brain. Low levels can be caused by poor diet, chronic stress, gut dysbiosis, and lack of sleep. GABA supplementation may help to reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation and improve sleep. How does GABA Work? Orally administered GABA has been shown to increase alpha waves and decrease beta waves in the brain, which is a measurable indication of relaxation [1]. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, GABA was shown to alleviate stress in adults performing mentally stressful tasks (also shown by alpha wave activity) [2]. GABA may also help to reduce acute stress. Decreased immunoglobin A (IgA) levels indicate stress. In one study, subjects with fear of heights crossing a suspension bridge had significantly higher IgA levels when they were administered GABA, compared to placebo [1]. As IgA is also a key player in immune response, this finding also suggests GABA may enhance immunity under stressful conditions [1]. GABA supplementation has also been demonstrated to shorten the time it takes to fall asleep and increase non-REM sleep time [3].  What are the Suggested Uses for GABA?
- Stress Management – Promotes relaxation, while inhibiting the effects of stress-producing neurotransmitters.
- Nerve Signaling – May help to balance any deficiency in natural levels of this calming neurotransmitter, repairing its functionality as a chemical messenger.
- Restful Sleep – Promotes a relaxed mood, reduced sleep latency, and longer periods of natural sleep.
